Direct Services

Our direct services include our nationally recognized shelter program, language advocacy program, crisis line, case management, and programs in support of underserved communities such as queer Asian survivors and trafficked survivors. Women's Program

Highlights from this past year:

Women's program:

• Placed over 20 residents and families into permanent or transitional housing;

• In collaboration with Narika, provided 12-week SEED program to former residents to foster economic independence and integration into society through the development of English language skills, financial literacy, computer literacy, and career skills that contribute to personal and professional growth;

• Built upon our ongoing Women's Program internship program.

Children's Program:

• Provided family outings to activities and events such as the San Francisco Ballet, Cirque du Soleil, and California Academy of Sciences;

• Continued implementing movement and art workshops with residents as a tool for healing and parent/child bonding;

• With the guidance of mental health consultants, held more workshops about the effects of domestic violence on children and skill-building around parenting and discipline.

We also…

• Evaluated and enhanced board governance with a grant from the Blue Shield of California Foundation;

• Provided training to the San Francisco District Attorney's office on topics related to cultural competency;

• Earthquake-proofed the shelter and completed a remodel of our counseling and study room. We installed energy efficient lighting, laid down new carpet, re-painted and purchased new furniture.
